Position: Farming Program Coordinator
Organization: Earthwise Society
Location: Delta, Greater Vancouver, BC
Dates: full-time, July 15 – October 17, 2020

Earthwise Society has been a not-for-profit leader in ecological land use and environmental education for over 30 years. The Society operates a small scale organic teaching farm and urban food garden programs at a number of sites in Delta, BC. We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and articulate individual with farming experience who will lead teams of staff and volunteers in carrying out farming operations and assist with the delivery of food security programs and education programs. This is a full time, temporary position from July 15 through October 15, 2020. Duties will include:


  • Carry out farm operations at all sites including planting, maintaining, and harvesting and distributing crops through direct sales and CSA.
  • Assist with the delivery of food security programs as part of Don’t Mow Grow Deliver farm based
  • Participate in organic soil management activities including composting, soil amendment and cover cropping
  • Train and supervise the work of volunteers and interns.
  • Assist with organic certification processes and help maintain records
  • Implement irrigation and water conservation strategies
  • Assist with the delivery of farm education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Post-secondary graduation related to agriculture, horticulture, environment, or similar
  • At least one year’s farming experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainable horticultural practices
  • Good customer service skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid BC Driver’s License an asset
  • Enjoyment of outdoor physical work


This position will be located at 6400 3rd Avenue, Delta, BC, and at other sites in the community. This is a full time temporary position, 35 hours per week from July 15, through October 17, 2020, to be paid at the rate of $17 per hour.
