iQ Food Co. is getting ready to open our 6th location in Mid-September + we're looking for more people to join our team.

Our Back of House Team Members possess a dynamic role with many touch points across our restaurant kitchens. The position has three key areas of focus: food preparation, plating, and organization. Our Team Members begin their days by carrying out basic food preparation while maintaining meticulously clean work environments. They ensure that key ingredients are cooked on time and our stations are fully prepared for the day’s service. Team Members then transition to execution, working as a group to assemble and plate every dish we serve with an emphasis on consistency and presentation. Finally, they focus on organization, ensuring our fridges and dry storage areas are neatly kept and properly organized for next day’s service.

While certain aspects of the role call for independent work, we move together and work as a single unit driven by a passion for excellence and a common love of sustainable and seasonal food.

PRIMARY DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fluency of the entire menu
  • Working diligently to prepare key ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner service while maintaining immaculately clean work stations
  • Working alongside fellow Team Members during busy breakfast, lunch and dinner rushes to assemble and plate our dishes with consistency
  • Navigating through busy service times by cooking food on demand and staying on top of par levels
  • Assisting your team w/ any food preparation needs that may arise as a result of a busy work day
  • Neatly organizing and labeling products prepared for the following day's service
  • Maintaining neat and tidy work stations and ensuring the kitchens and workstations are left in spotless condition
  • Secondary duties include storage runs as well as general cleaning duties including mopping floors and assisting in the general clean up of our shops at day end
  • Working alongside all Team Members as a collective in keeping our restaurants immaculate (there is no single Busser - we work as a team ensure our floors are clean, our organics and recycling stations neat, and our bathrooms fresh)

QUALITIES + QUALIFICATIONS WE LOOK FOR:

  • Ability to work quickly (speed is important in this role)
  • Ability to clearly follow recipes and prepare food carefully and consistently Ability to lift 25 kg’s We value attitude + have a great training program so prior experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment is preferred, but not required

This position will have a schedule that varies weekly, successful candidates will have open availability, Monday- Friday and some weekends.

PAY + PERKS:

$12.50/ hour increasing to $13.00 / hour after three months
