South Pond Farms is a 60-acre farm and special events venue located in the Kawartha Lakes of Ontario. We are dedicated to delivering authentic country experiences, weddings, corporate events, workshops and delicious farm-to-table suppers using food and flowers grown on the land. We are looking for a full-time seasonal prep-cook starting as soon as possible until October. We are looking for someone with some experience working in a kitchen and preparing food for large groups of 50 or more. Successful applicants would work with and report to our Chef. The position offers an opportunity to learn about seasonal, farm-to-table cooking and the importance of supporting local.
Duties include: Preparing cooking ingredients by washing, chopping, cutting meat, pealing, etc. Basic cooking duties and preparing simple dishes. Maintain clean and organized kitchen.
Food Handler Certification
High-school or equivalent
Applicants must be able to work well on a team as well as working independently. As this is an event based business, hours may be irregular and will require availability on weekends. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, show initiative and be able to take instruction and accept feedback in addition to eagerness to learn. Because we are an event based business, the work may change from day to day so applicants must be flexible, fast learners and must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. The work may require some heavy lifting so some physical fitness is required.
