Organization: Hundred Acre Wood Forest Preschool
Location: Heathcote, near Collingwood/Thornbury/Owen Sound, Ontario

Part-time starting September 30, 2019 (3-4hrs/day)

Pay rate: $16-$17/hr

Hundred Acre Wood Forest Preschool is launching in 2019 and we are ready to add to our team! We are looking for a cook to create a rotating weekly menu and prepare a variety of healthy and nutritious snacks and lunches for our program participants.

We are a licensed non-profit preschool centre in Heathcote ON. We have a capacity of 5 toddlers (one class) and 16 preschoolers (2 classes). We are situated on 100 acres of meadow and forested land, with an indoor facility that reflects our outdoor learning philosophy.

The cook will prepare daily morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack for program participants according to a menu that meets Canada’s Food Guide and program policies and procedures. The cook will also assist the program staff where needed. This position could be combined with the part-time Director position if the candidate has the necessary qualifications.


  • Experience in a commercial kitchen/food service establishment
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • The ability to create a menu according to Canada’s Food Guide and centre policies and procedures
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
  • A clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening done within the past 12 months
  • Up to date vaccinations
  • Must be physically able to assist children as required – (eg. Lifting, getting up and down from the floor frequently)
  • Must have a working knowledge of centre policies and procedures and adhere to them at all times
  • The ability to provide outstanding customer service to children and parents
  • An affinity for the natural world – either some education in this field or self-education and experience is an asset

Job Duties

  • Prepare 2 snacks and lunch daily for the program according to all guidelines and healthy and safety policies given
  • Create a rotating weekly menu that is nutritious, free of processed foods, and includes local ingredients and ingredients from the school gardens.
  • Work as part of the Hundred Acre Wood Team

**This position is conditional upon the centre receiving a Ministry of Education license and a minimum number of registrants by opening day.
