Position: Member outreach and warehouse assistant

Eat Local Grey Bruce is a co-op. We connect food buyers with food suppliers in Grey Bruce. We envision a local economy that provides meaningful employment, enhances the environment, supports healthy living, and vitalizes a local food culture. Eat Local Grey Bruce operates an online grocery store. Once you create an account you can add products to your cart 24 hours a day from Wednesdays 12pm to Mondays 12pm. You choose exactly what goes into your cart, and there is no obligation to order every week. Orders must be confirmed by Monday at noon to make that week’s delivery. Local farmers are the heart of our co-op therefore we source from local, small-scale farmers first.
Our small team of dedicated staff manage the online store, warehouse (in Owen Sound), packing and delivery. A volunteer board of producers and buyer members oversee the coop’s activities.
We are looking for a Member Outreach and Warehouse Assistant, whose responsibilities will include:
warehouse tasks (receiving, packing, record keeping, cleaning)
social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
attend events on behalf of Eat Local
organize Local Food Nights at pick up locations and other events

This position is for 8 months from May 2019 to January 2020.
Funding for this position is provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. To qualify, an eligible employee must be, before starting the project:
between the ages of 15 and 30;
unemployed or under-employed;
have graduated from a university, college or CEGEP;
not have participated in any other Youth Employment Strategy programs (ie. Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative); and
be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
