Position: Project Coordinator, Markets

The Project Coordinator, Markets provides overall operational support and coordination for the smooth delivery of projects within Evergreen Brick Works as assigned, focusing on farmers’ market, public markets, and special events (e.g. festivals). The Project Coordinator will also act as an Evergreen Ambassador with vendors, volunteers and the public at markets and public events.


  • Delivers consistent, exceptional service to Evergreen Brick Works’ customers
  • Coordinates set-up and take down logistics
  • Support volunteer management, including orientation, scheduling, coordinating, and recognition
  • Facilitates on the ground evaluations and record keeping
  • Ensures vendors and market operations are in compliance with farmers’ market rules and regulations
  • Resolves minor disputes related to the daily operation of the market between vendors or between vendors and customers
  • Prepares the weekly report which includes issues and/or suggestions to keep management informed
  • Performs administrative tasks, including recording vendor fees, consolidating cash, weekly communication with vendors, etc.
  • Assists the Public Markets team with seasonal tasks such as:
    • Processing Seasonal Applications
    • Research on New Vendor Recruitment/ Selection and Retention
    • Communications and Promotions

  • 1-3 years relevant experience in event management, hospitality, customer service, project coordination or similar
  • Demonstrated interest in/knowledge about environmental issues with emphasis farmers’ markets, food systems, Indigenous food sovereignty, food policy and food related programs
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • An ability to work with individuals of all ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office) and familiarity with databases
  • Adobe Illustrator skills, an asset
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Access to vehicle an asset
  • Food Handling Certification and/CPR and First Aid training, an asset
  • Experience with power tools, an asset

Working conditions:

  • Working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with visitors, vendors, volunteers and children
  • Working a mixture of weekend & weekday shifts, including evening & early morning shifts as and when required on a seasonal basis

Physical requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods of time; ability to walk the market during market hours.
  • Lifting heavy objects on a regular basis (able to set up and move tables or tents as needed)
  • Working on strenuous event setup/construction on a seasonal basis

Terms of contract:

  • Able to work weekends and evenings, including every Saturday
  • Full time (35 hours)/ week
