Position: Farm Hand
Organization: Sweet Digz Farm
Location: Steveston / southwest Richmond, Greater Vancouver BC

About Sweet Digz Farm

Sweet Digz Farm is a small-scale organic farm, located on the edge of Steveston (Richmond), BC in the fertile valley of the Fraser River. We grow vegetables, seed and herbs and distribute our bounty through our 100-person Community Supported Agriculture box (delivered throughout Richmond and Vancouver), a weekly market in Richmond, and to Gudrun Restaurant in Steveston.

Sweet Digz Farm is run by owner-farmers Kareno Hawbolt & Kimi Hendess, and our team includes a seasonal farm hand, casual labour help, and a few very dedicated volunteers who join us once a week. We aim to create a fun, educational, empowering vibe where everyone feels appreciated while also being challenged to work their butts off in the extraordinary conditions of weather, timeframes, and general highs and lows that are the daily reality of farming. We give the earth our all, and are rewarded by amazing bounty. Check out for more about us.

  • interest or experience in organic farming
  • passionate about local food and sustainable agriculture
  • able to work in shifting weather conditions
  • physically fit and strong, enjoy manual labour and see the beauty in small scale DIY
  • experience (or open to learning) using machinery on the farm (weedwacker, mower, walk-behind tractor)
  • an ability to work in groups with a positive team attitude, AND also able to spend hours alone on a project (ex: weeding, planting)
  • at peace with doing repetitive tasks
  • positive attitude, self motivated, flexible, and respond well to feedback
  • able to work under stressful deadlines
  • able to problem solve and create individualized efficiencies as you work
  • able to find time in a busy daily schedule to throw the ball for River the farm dog!

  • $11.50/hr plus veggies on tap for your consumption
  • End of season bonus = retroactive .50/hr

Start Date: May 1 2017
