Position: Full Time Farm Helper
Location: Richmond, Greater Vancouver, British Columbia

Our 15 acre peri-urban farm in Richmond BC is looking for one full time Farm Helper to run a mixed farming operation together with a farm supervisor. Successful candidate must have an interest in animals: goats, chickens, cows, dogs and knowledge in farm operation. The candidate should have a positive and outgoing attitude, excellent attention to detail, an ability to work independently on assigned duties. Most importantly, a willingness to learn from others and a strong team player would be highly required from the candidate.

Job Description:

As a Farm Helper you will work as an integral part of the larger farm operations team. Though much of your work will be carried out independently, many of your activities will intersect with various aspects of this mixed farming operation and you will be required to coordinate with other members of the farm operations team. Your primary duties will relate directly to the care and management of livestock with a variety of grazing animals: goats, cows, and chickens.

Specifics include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding and carrying out specifically designed operating procedures;
  • Collecting and recording operational data;
  • Communicating orally and in writing with farm management and other team members;
  • Periodically setting up rotational pasture with electric fences;
  • Performing daily chores, for example: animal health checks and health care, feeding, water management, barn, animal shelters and chicken coops cleanup, egg collection, livestock guard dog training, milking and breeding;
  • Carrying out pasture and biological monitoring;
  • Testing and properly maintaining electric fencing.

You will be directly responsible for the ethical care and treatment of these animals for optimal health and wellbeing. At times some of the livestock may be sold for slaughter and consumption. Slaughter does not take place on the farm and is only carried out through the appropriate legal channels.

Secondary duties will relate to working closely with farm supervisor in handling market garden and farm operation.


  • High School Graduate, post-secondary education is an asset;
  • Previous work in farming of landscaping environment is an asset;
  • An excellent level of physical fitness is required.


Full time position offered. The first 3 months are probationary and include reviews of your performance and being fit within the team at the end of the third month.


Commensurate with experience and performance.
