Alchemy Pickle Company is a small processor that makes naturally fermented vegetable pickles, sauerkrauts and kimchi with all Ontario certified organic produce. We also brew Kombucha and beet kvass. We vend at 3 farmers’ markets in Toronto and sell to 35+ retailers.
Over the last seven years, we’ve seen big changes and an increase in demand for our products. We’ve built solid relationships with our customers and stores, and we want to continue making super exciting food and drinks with the integrity and quality we are known for.
In this role, you’ll be working closely with our small friendly team in the kitchen, as well as on your own at the Trinity Bellwoods Farmer’s Market and doing local deliveries.
Must haves: Food Handlers’ certificate (pending ok), Driver's License and clean driving record, food production experience. Enthusiasm for pickles. Positive attitude, great time management, an eye for detail, motivated work ethic. Clean and tidy presentation. Able to lift and carry 50 lbs, and stand for most of the work day.
An enthusiasm and understanding of the principles of vegetable fermentation and Kombucha, as well as knowledge of the local food scene, is important, but not required.
Market Sales – 1 day per week, Tuesdays 12:30-8:30pm May-October
Organize and pack market supplies and products, drive to market, set up/ tear down. This is a physically demanding work day with heavy lifting involved. It is also very fun, and usually includes eating pickles with many pickle lovers. This role requires excellent customer service skills, calmness and quick thinking with ease in any situation (and weather), quick math / counting skills. Potential for occasional one-off events on other days over the season.
Kitchen Prep – 1-2 days, flexible
Help in most aspects of a small food business including washing and processing veg, packing product into jars, labeling, washing jars and bottles, cleaning, organizing market supplies and products. Extensive food safety and cleaning procedures must be followed – training provided.
Deliveries - as needed
Representing the company on the delivery run, checking in with retailers, customer service. You do not need your own vehicle. Heavy lifting is required.
