Position: Food Assistant, Red Wolf Overnight Camp
Organization: the p.i.n.e. project
Location: Haliburton, Ontario
Duration: This role is fixed term for 4 weeks from July 28 – August 25, 2019; with the possibility of additional weeks in July working with our Urban Camps in Toronto
About the p.i.n.e. project:
The p.i.n.e. project fosters confidence, competence, resilience and connection to nature through transformative outdoor experiences for all ages in Toronto and beyond. Our work inspires a vital re-connection between people and nature, community and oneself. We work primarily with children and families in the urban context, delivering innovative year-round outdoor programming. Our programs include weekly programming for children during the school year, overnight camps in South Central Ontario, as well as highly sought-after day camps in Toronto. We also offer family experiences and educator training programs for professionals. Please visit our website for more information at pineproject.org.
The p.i.n.e. project is seeking a backcountry food assistant, with experience working at children’s overnight camps, to join our Red Wolf Overnight Wilderness Camp staff team. Reporting to the Red Wolf Food Coordinator, the Food Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance to the Food Coordinator to oversee the process of ensuring food is provided to staff and campers at Red Wolf. Unlike many overnight camps, the entirety of Red Wolf Overnight Wilderness Camp takes place in a backcountry setting, with campers and staff living in tents, cooking for themselves over open fires, and living in harmony with the land. As such, this role is critical to ensuring the success of our camp. The Food Assistant would live on site in the backcountry setting.
