Position: Pack Team Lead
Reports to: Production Manager
Organization: Real Food for Real Kids
Location: East End of Toronto, ON - 115 Saulter Street South (Lakeshore/Carlaw)

Direct Reports: approximately 20 reports

Hours: Full Time - Monday-Friday, 11:00am - 7:00pm


  • $19.00 per hour

A glimpse at the role:

The Team Leader is responsible for guiding our food packing team in the daily operation of order fulfillment. The Team Leader is accountable for meeting production requirements by effectively leading, coaching, training and developing pack team personnel; focussing on safety, quality, production targets, problem solving, and effective communication.

Some of the things you’ll get paid to do:


  • Responsible for a team with varying start times
  • Facilitates problem solving by actively communicating with other departments
  • Ensure orders are filled accurately and on time
  • Ensure daily reports are completed by food packing team
  • Collaborate with other production departments to ensure that workspaces are properly stocked/equipped
  • Generate reports and labels for production teams

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure that best practices are being followed to minimize waste
  • Adhere to production plan; assisting in the scheduling and reassignment of personnel; accomplishing goals, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, and resolving problems
  • Maintains quality service by contributing to the establishment of and adherence to RFRK’s policies and standards
  • Ensure proper temperature control of perishable products
  • Oversee and ensure proper housekeeping of workspaces, and cleaning and sanitation procedures are adhered to
  • Timely communication of all pertinent information concerning production, problems, and related action plans with all relevant stakeholders/departments
  • Responsible for end of day closing procedures
  • Daily collection of data for reporting proposes

Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Ensure employees are working in a safe manner and following health and safety policy and regulations
  • Lead team to attain or exceed production goals with the ultimate goal of exceeding customer quality expectations
  • Provide coaching and training to further advance your team’s technical ability as well as increase safety and quality performance; address key issues and concerns with employee development
  • Support the orientation, and training of employees, and the performance appraisal process
  • Confirm hourly and temporary employees start and finish times.
  • Contributes to planning and coordinating employee vacation schedules

Required Education and Experience:

  • Min. of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Min. of one (1) year of food production experience
  • Min. of one (1) year of experience in a similar role
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Positive and open-minded attitude, with an ability to motivate others to get things done right
  • Works well in a team environment; collaborative
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve
  • Effective communicator
  • Min. of an intermediate level of computer literacy
  • Ability to work on your feet for a full shift
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 25 kg
  • Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Basic mathematical aptitude including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division


  • Food Handler Certificate
  • Exposure to HACCP practices
  • First aid and CPR Certificate
