Riverdale Hub is a vibrant green social enterprise located in the east end of Toronto. It currently serves marginalized women through a variety of programs and social enterprises. The social enterprises include a vegan café, community kitchen, along with event, office and co-working spaces. Our green building features a Rooftop Vegetable Garden, a Rainwater Garden, and a Green Roof. Programming includes a hospitality training program with the objective of establishing placement opportunities for the participants as well as other programs and projects that will assist women in reaching their full potential.
In search of a part-time gardener to help our rooftop garden transition into the Winter season. From March onwards we will need an enthusiatic and motivated individual who is passionate about organic gardening to harvest our existing crops throughout the fall, and put in place plans for summer and winter gardening.
There are a number of projects you would take charge of, such as: converting our green roof into a vegetable garden to further increase yield, working on the rain water garden, and collaborating with other organizations to install a bee hive on the rooftop.
We also host a program called Women in the Garden for women to come and learn about gardening twice a week, and this position would require collaboration with the program coordinator to plan workshops and garden themed activities for the women to engage in.
Please check-out the Hub online by visiting http://riverdalehub.ca/.
We encourage all applications to look into grant funding for this position.
