Position: Graphic & UX Designer
Organization: Mama Earth Organics
Location: Toronto (near O'Connor & St. Clair Ave. E) or Peterborough, Ontario

The Role

Mama Earth Organics is looking for an experienced and ambitious designer who loves both graphic and UX design (and has a real knack for them)!

On the UX side, you’ll be responsible for the design of our core product (website, CMS and digital communications) and on the graphics side, you’ll be in charge of our brand materials, advertisements and packaging.

The position is a mixture of hands on and strategic work. You’ll play a huge role within our fast growing organization and work closely with our Chief Product Officer (and the rest of our executive team).

Are you someone who understands the rules of design but loves to break them? We’re anything but corporate. Become part of something big (we have strong morals and we’re proud of it!) and help lead our brand at Mama Earth Organics.

Job Description

  • Responsibility for overall digital customer experience
  • Development of wireframes and design comps for our product in collaboration with our Product team (website, digital communications, CMS back-end)
  • Oversee the user experience strategy (all digital touch-points) in line with company goals and objectives
  • Design of brand materials, packaging and advertisements (online and print)
  • Act as an expert and gatekeeper of the visual/aesthetic side of our brand
  • Conduct competitive analyses and user testing to determine pain points and provide recommendations/additional insights
  • Attend weekly, monthly, quarterly strategy meetings
  • Help to put together product updates for the board

Characteristics You Have

  • Strong experience in interface design – creating intuitive, engaging interfaces for responsive web applications
  • Substantial experience in graphic design – you’re forward-thinking, and love to create both unique and beautiful visuals
  • You know the rules of design but love to break them
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple ongoing tasks with changing priorities
  • Empathy for people (and our customers), strong understanding and interest in people and their emotions
  • Understanding of trends and movements (naturally ahead of both and able to distinguish between the two)
  • You love feedback and continually making things better as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, takes full responsibility on tasks
  • Excellent planning, time-management and decision making skills
  • Quality obsessed with extreme attention to detail

‘Nice to Have’ things (not required - but any/all of these would be an asset):

  • Understanding, interest and love of food
  • Farming background
  • Rural/country living background
