About Graham’s Farm Market

Graham’s Farm Market grows nutrient dense local organic fruit, vegetables, farm fresh eggs, meat birds, cut flowers and preserves. We sell through 3 local farmers’ markets, farm gate, and to local restaurants. We focus on the principles and practices of small farm operations using innovative farming techniques with sustainable agriculture on 65 acres along the Gull River.

Growing a large variety of fruits and vegetables on 6 acres, with a small apiary for crop pollination allows our farm to serve as a model of sustainable, organic agriculture & appropriate land stewardship. We will provide opportunities to participate in responsible environmental leadership, growing organic food, & fostering a sense of community, while working together & enjoying the outdoors.

We are looking for a motivated individual to manage a tomato greenhouse which is on the leading edge of organic and biological growing practices, maintaining soil and plant health. Enthusiasm towards working with worm bins and composting piles while managing soil fertility through advanced irrigation techniques is a must. Plant health is of utmost importance and a strict pruning and trellising program will be followed. Gentle harvest of ripe fruits is a must and will be worked into schedule as needed. Some field work will be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail, clean, and meticulous
  • Efficient worker, fast paced, highly motivated.
  • Great customer service skills for farm gate and market sales
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Comfortable with repetitive individual tasks
  • Willingness to learn
  • Organized and willing to fill out worksheets and daily journals
  • Communicates effectively

Working Conditions:

  • High demand of physical work is required in changing weather and temperature conditions inside and outside of greenhouse
  • Heavy lifting, bending, twisting, walking, sitting, etc.
  • Weekends and Holidays are required when necessary

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the monitoring of crop development
  • Participates in pest and disease monitoring
  • Monitoring of nutrient status and soil moisture in assigned crops in order to maintain healthy crops
  • Planting, Harvesting, and Recoding of Crops
  • Crop maintenance (pruning, pinching, cultivate, irrigate, fertilizing, etc.)
  • Quality inspection of products
  • Prepare and pack product for distribution
  • Cleaning, loading and prep for markets and sales
  • Equipment care and use
  • Field work and livestock care when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment

Location:

Our farm is located on the Gull River in Downtown Minden, in the Haliburton Highlands (Cottage Country). We have lots of waterfront river access with a dock, patio, and fire pit. Our central location within town means easy walking to all amenities.
