Heirloom Seed Sanctuary
The Heirloom Seed Sanctuary saves seed and educates the public about seed saving, based on the belief that seed is the beginning of any ecology and sustainable food issues. To grow and save seed for future generations is a ministry that speaks to a concern for the earth and all creation. Over 250 varieties of vegetables, flowers and herbs are grown on about 1 acre of gardens. Ecological practices and BioDynamic principles are used. Seed grown at Heathfield is adapted to local climatic and soil conditions.
Our 2017 summer gardening position is our invitation for a student to spend approximately 4 months (May – August) working and learning with us on the urban fields growing and documenting seed crops. You must be physically fit and bring your own sun protection and work boots.
Come experience farm life in the City!
