Gain experience on two working organic farms in beautiful Grey County, Ontario! Green Being Farm and Cedar Down Farm are offering a unique shared farm position with complementary part-time positions on both farms. Green Being Farm produces winter and early spring vegetables for CSA and grazes beef and poultry. Just down the road, Cedar Down Farm is in their eleventh season offering year-round vegetable shares for over 200 members.

Green Being Farm

We are a diversified, ecological farm with a focus on producing "Food to Feel Good About". We run a 70 member Winter and Spring CSA with a focus on high quality produce from both the field and 3 hoophouses. We also graze a herd of about 20 grassfed beef animals as well as pastured poultry. We strive to give our animals the best lives possible and raise them in a way that does not compromise their dignity nor that of the environment.

The Farm Assistant will gain experience working on all parts of the farm and achieve a high level of competence with both vegetable cultivation and animal husbandry. Being a small but diversified farm means that there is lots of variation in the work we do every day.

Work week is 16 hrs/week (Monday, Friday and an hour on Saturday mornings). Wage is $15/hr, plus some meat, vegetables and eggs from our farm. There is a private apartment on the farm available for rent, which is deducted from your wage.

To learn more about our farm, please visit, find us on instagram @green_being_farm and facebook.

Time span: May 1st – mid December with the option to spend the winter. Hours increase in the fall after contract with Cedar Down Farm ends (see below).

Candidates are required to have previous farming experience, a drivers' license and be able to lift 50 lb loads.

To apply: please email Tarrah Young with resume and cover letter, and a reference from a farm. Or feel free to just get the ball rolling by emailing me with any questions you have:

Cedar Down Farm

Cedar Down Farm grows certified organic vegetables on 6.5 acres to serve spring, summer and winter farmshares. With 3 weekly delivery points and over 200 summer members, we are looking for a part-time field worker to join our two full time staff and two farm managers to help in various farm tasks including planting and harvesting, weed management and crop health care (such as pruning and trellising, row cover and other garden tasks).

We strive to create a positive, supportive and enjoyable work environment while concentrating on being efficient, productive and producing the highest quality vegetables. We set high standards for our farming methods and the food that we produce, but also for the way that we communicate and interact with all humans (and non-humans) that are on the farm. The successful candidate for this position will be focused on quality of work as well as on contributing to a very positive work environment.

Work week is Tues–Thurs. Compensation is $15/hr and produce from the farm. Position runs until end of September.

Send resume and cover letter to Tarrah (as above) or Leslie at (or send to both!).
