Position: Retail Stores Director (Bakery)
Organization: Fresh City Farms

About the Position:

As Retail Stores Director (Bakery), you will have ultimate accountability for front-of-house operations at four Mabel's bakery stores. You will lead Store Managers and Store Leads and ensure that all aspects of Mabel’s retail operations are consistent across all stores and meet expected standards for customer service, merchandising, cleanliness, inventory management, staffing, and training. You will report to the Chief Retail Officer.


  • Working with the Chief Retail Officer, establish monthly sales, COGS and labour targets for FOH teams
  • Strive to attain corporate monthly and quarterly sales objectives
  • Strive to attain departmental labour costing targets across all stores
  • Shared responsibility for attainment monthly and quarterly COGS targets
  • Working with the Store Managers, oversee staff scheduling to ensure the “optimal” level of FOH staff on duty at all times
  • Regular review and adjustment of PAR levels to ensure optimal stocking levels of all products
  • Ensure that Store Managers are maintaining optimal inventory levels
  • Conduct regular reviews with the Store Managers of their sales performance relative to forecasts and targets
  • Provide a month-end summary of performance levels relative to targets to Chief Retail Officer and Store Managers
  • Reinforce best practices, adherence to protocols and merchandising standards
  • Ensure that all Store Managers and their staff are properly trained in all aspects of their roles
  • Ongoing review and updates to the Training Manual
  • Joint interviewing and hiring of qualified candidates with Store Managers
  • Monitor and produce weekly Bread and Bagel Production Schedules to ensure optimal levels of product on hand
  • Handle any escalated customer complaints or special requests
  • Ensure that Mabel’s customer-centered culture is consistent and replicated across all store

About you:

  • Minimum of 5 years working in food retail
  • Minimum of 2 years supervising at least 5 staff, including hiring, training and motivating
  • Obsessive attention to detail to ensure a consistent customer experience
  • Friendly and upbeat personality
  • Willingness to learn about our products
  • Ability to work and constantly set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible availability
  • Valid drivers license


  • Salary Range: $50,000 to $62,000 annually, depending on experience
  • 2 weeks paid vacation
