Sharon Creek Farm is a certified organic six acre mixed farm, organized using principles of permaculture. We are conveniently located a few minutes from the East Gwillimbury GO station, on the East Holland River. Most of the farm is dedicated to mixed fruit and nut orchards. We also raise rare breeds of chicken and ducks, and employ a small flock of Babydoll Southdown sheep and Myotonic goats for weed control. There are several bee hives on the farm and a resident Livestock Guardian Dog. Most of our products are sold at a weekly farm market from July through October.
Working alongside the primary farmer, the Farm Hand will be involved in all aspects of the farm. Tasks include: seeding and transplanting, weeding, harvesting, moving livestock through rotational grazing, minor repairs, cleaning livestock pens, feeding and watering livestock, assisting with animal husbandry tasks, irrigation.
This position will be approximately 20 hours per week, days and times are negotiable for the right candidate. There will be some opportunity for additional hours. Position will start mid- to end- April (weather dependent), and finish in mid-November.
