CERTIFIED ORGANIC FARM – 2020 SEASON
Firmly Rooted is a 3.5-acre organic market garden located in Belgrave, Ontario, 30 minutes from beautiful Lake Huron. We delight in providing 4 seasons of delicious and healthy produce to our local community through 2 vibrant farmers markets, a 100-member, multi-season CSA (community supported agriculture) program as well as to a variety of local restaurants.
We specialize in providing a variety of salad greens year-round by utilizing greenhouses as well as in the field production, while also growing a diverse array of vegetables and some fruits. We use intensive, low-tillage farming practices and utilize cover crops and other soil building techniques to produce high quality vegetables, healthy soil, and a beautiful and diverse vegetable farm. We keep bees for pollination and hobby purposes, and provide insect and pollinator habitat throughout the farm. We are also currently establishing a forest garden. The diverse crops and hands-on production methods provide an enjoyable, fast paced and ever-changing working environment.
We are seeking 3 hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in organic vegetable production to join us for the 2020 growing season. All positions will include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
The 3 positions available are full time (40 hours/week) and are as follows:
1. Greenhouse manager: early April-mid November
2. Wash station manager: early May-December
3. Farm laborer: mid May-October
Applicants for all positions should be physically fit (able to lift 40lbs as well as squat, kneel etc), be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and have some sort of previous experience with outdoor physical labour. Previous farming experience an asset, though not necessary. A full G driver’s license is also preferred. On farm housing may be available upon request.
