About Blue House Organics

Blue House Organic Farm & Farm Stay is a new farm started this year. Blue House Organics is in process of organic certification. We follow all organic practices and the land we farm has never been sprayed. It is located along the Ryan River in the Pemberton Meadows Valley above Pemberton, BC (1 hour from Squamish and 2 from Vancouver).

The farm at Blue House Organics grows over 30 varieties of transitional to organic annual vegetables on 1.5 acres and has plans for a fall planting of an additional 1 acre in garlic. With another 10 acres of cultivable land there is an opportunity for scaled production of select annual field crops as well as tree fruits, berries, herbs, vegetables, or animals.

Farm Manager Position

Design and execute organic production of vegetables, crop plan on 1-2 acres for the 2018 growing season, keeping in mind the goal I to farm all 15 acres of the property in the future, with the help of farm workers.


  • Perform practical activities, i.e. drive tractors, operate machinery, inspect sprinklers, etc.
  • Maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment and help the Infrastructure Manager when needed. If there is no Infrastructure Manager try to cover the vacancy as far as needed to execute the crop plan and the business plan.
  • Participate in crop harvest -- direct or oversee seasonal help during harvest.
  • Load products into trucks and/or drive trucks to market/storage
  • Set up/inspect/repair irrigation system equipment
  • seed starting, seedling care
    • crop planning
    • Intensive vegetable farming utilizing raised beds, walk behind tractor and attachments
    • livestock and pasturing
    • cover cropping and soil care
    • season extension and greenhouse management
    • Certified Organic rules and certification
    • small scale honey production
    • Greens production in winter months
    • Perform other general farm duties as needed
    • Communicate with the Farm Owner regarding crop progress, marketing and business plan, and issues that may arise.
    • Facilitate attainment of organic certification and GAP.
    • Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are strictly followed
    • Help organize marketing through CSA, Online sales, Farmers Market, Direct Wholesale.
  • Record keeping to be able to have costs per crop and pricing of each crop and profitability.
  • Help all aspects of organizing the farm as business unit.

Reporting lines

The Market Garden Manager reports to the Farm Owner. A Farmer that believes in Team Work and wants to grow an efficient organization with a desire to grow the business in the long term.


Compensation: Monthly Salary and Profit Sharing

Accommodation: Market Garden Manager will be provided with housing in good conditions with internet, running water, electricity, and heating upon the premises of the Farm as part of remuneration.

Hours: 8-10 hours/day and could be more on certain days such as harvest or getting ready for markets.

To qualify, you must have a deep passion for organic farming, and problem solving skills. You must be able to work independently and with others and you must have an inquisitive mind that approaches farming as a science and as a business that need a team with a long term view to develop the farm.

This is a paid position starting at an agreed salary plus profit sharing, and living accommodations.
