FARM-TO-TABLE FARMING

Position: Lead Farm Hand/ Intern
Type: full-time, 30,000$/salary, plus on-farm accom., more (see below)
Eligibility: Canadian youth, 30yrs or younger (see below)

Farm: 10 Acres Farm
Location: North Saanich, Greater Victoria BC / Vancouver Island

Do you love spending your days outdoors, eating the highest quality produce and falling in to bed at night? Consider joining our small but passionate, hardworking, and ever-learning team. We are looking for a lead farm hand to complete our crew. Our restaurant owned farm is in a unique position of growing food exclusively for three busy restaurants. The successful candidate will have endless opportunities to learn, network, and absorb the daily ins and outs of running a small scale mixed farm.

The Farm

10 Acres Farm is located on Vancouver Island’s beautiful Saanich Peninsula. Our farm includes (but is not limited to) annual fruits and vegetables, perennials, mixed orchards, and livestock (pigs, honeybees, turkeys, and two trout ponds). A key to our thriving destination is utilizing the restaurants' compostable waste. The farm upcycles the restaurants’ compostable waste both for pig food and to create a beautifully rich amendment (compost) for our fields. Our restaurant made compost, crop rotations, cover crops, and diversity are key in maintaining healthy and nutrient dense soils; in turn we are able to grow exceptionally high quality food that we are proud to deliver to our downtown Victoria Restaurants. The property is buzzing with excitement as we anticipate new projects and challenges.
