Positions: Microgreen & Field Crew
Company: Backyard Edibles
Location: Ottawa Greenbelt, Ontario

Who We Are

Backyard Edibles began in 2015 from humble beginnings as a successful urban farm in the Nation’s Capital. From a handful of backyard plots in the west end of Ottawa, we quickly grew into a constellation of productive, yard-based market gardens throughout the city, while at the same time establishing a vertically-integrated year-round microgreen operation that has since become the backbone of our farm. Everything we grow, from seasonal vegetables to gourmet microgreens and edible flowers is made available to our community at local farmers’ markets, independently operated grocery stores and Ottawa's top restaurants.

Our mission has always and continues to be helping foster a locally based, sustainable food system in our region and although to date we’ve defined ourselves by the ‘yard farm’ model it’s been in the back of our minds to one day find a single, suitable location to further our dreams and aspirations well within city limits.

So we did just that! 2020 marks a dramatic but equally natural step in Backyard Edibles’ evolution and we invite you to be a part of it. Recently acquiring a 50-acre farm located in Ottawa’s Greenbelt and only a 10-minute drive from downtown we are now seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals to join us on this exciting chapter for the 2020 season.
