Kula Permaculture Farm is one of the largest off-grid permaculture farms in Canada.
Formerly known as The Rainbow Heritage Garden, Kula Permaculture Farm comprises just under 100 of the 350 acres stewarded by the Dobson and Loeks families. This beautiful four-season farm offers a diverse landscape of farmland, food forests, orchards, meadows, wetlands, and woodlands and uses permaculture design and growing techniques as published in Zach’s book, The Permaculture Market Garden. We invest heavily in soil integrity to produce the most nutrient dense vegetables on the planet to feed our community. Our produce is distributed through a weekly CSA vegetable basket program. On-site we also have a dedicated yoga studio, host festivals and markets for the public, run workshops on healthy living and sustainable agriculture, teach cooking classes in our on-site commercial kitchen and offer children’s summer camps. Please visit our website at http://www.kulafarm.ca to learn more about our operation.
Owned by Zach Loeks & Kylah Dobson, the farm is in it’s 11th year of production. In 2017 we will produce vegetables for a 150 CSA shares and our on-farm festivals and events on approximately 5 acres of land in a 15 acre rotation. We also grow 40,000 bulbs of commercial organic seed garlic to ship throughout Canada (http://www.kualgarlic.com). We have a greenhouse for seedling propagation, a large walk-in commercial root cellar, a processing and packing barn,
We do not have an internship program but we fully train our employees for any required responsibilities of the job position. As the season progresses there is opportunity for staff to take on specific responsibilities on the farm i.e. managing certain crops, transplant manager, irrigation manager, events manager etc.
Ontario minimum wage ($11.40)
Bonus: fresh, organic vegetables from the farm.
