Position: Organic farm / market garden internship
Type: internship Apr-November with weekly stipend, veggies, no accom. (see below)
Location: Peterborough, Ontario
Full-season learning position with pay on a small-scale market garden farm, growing by organic standards. You'll be hands-on with all aspects of the operation: seed-starting, field preparation, seeding and cultivating, year-round greenhouse, harvest, farmers' market. This is a great opportunity to learn market gardening in one season, by trying it all yourself.
The farm is located just outside of Peterborough, Ontario (five minutes from Trent U). We grow using no synthetic fertilizer, no pesticides, and no treated seed. Most of the work is done by hand, with hand tools, and at times a tiny tractor. An unheated production greenhouse is used year-round, including for winter greens.
It's fun, and you can learn a lot!
Details and requirements:
If you are interested in committing for the season, please send your resume (if you have one) and a cover letter explaining why you're interested, and including any questions you may have:
