What would it feel like to be part of a team that is making a difference in the local food landscape in Ontario every day?
To support farm-fresh, local food that chefs and restaurant patrons can really savour?
To support local farmers to access a growing market and emerging economy?
To be part of building a great organizational culture, where people can be themselves and change the way business is done?
If that door opened in front of you, would you walk on through?
We hope so!
We’re 100km Foods, and we connect local farmers with urban markets. With our help, farmers get access to large, urban markets and customers get access to delicious, farm-fresh food at local restaurants, hotels, and retailers. It’s a win-win for all involved.
We deal fairly with farmers, allowing them to set their own prices, and we seek to treat all of our employees, suppliers, clients, and community with a high standard of fairness and cooperation. That led us to become a certified B Corp (ever heard of that?).
Working with us, you’ll get to be a part of that purpose. You’ll work with great people who care about what they do, who bring a positive attitude to work, and who like to have fun. You’ll bring your whole self to work in a casual (no suits here!), friendly, and supportive environment.
As our new AP/Payroll Clerk, you will join an accounting team that is the lynch pin to sustainability. Your mix of financial skills and people skills will allow you to have a tremendous impact on the success of the business, and help us continue our vision.
Success in this role means making sure all our financial data is accurate, our employee onboarding process is executed with excellence, and our vendors and staff are paid on time. Working with our AR Clerk and CFO, you’ll contribute to this by processing payments, resolving vendor payment questions, preparing reports, and working with management team members to keep payables and payroll on track. You’ll take the lead on analyzing key performance metrics to ensure the ongoing health of the business.
The best AP/Payroll clerks are adept at balancing empathy and street smarts. They understand our company needs both a smooth cash flow and strong relationships with farmers, and employees to succeed. They have high emotional intelligence that shows in the way they work with and treat other people.
Growing our business also means finding ways to improve our processes. You’ll help us find ways to improve our accounting and payroll processes so our business can continue to scale. Working in a small, mission-based business also means that we are nimble, adaptable, creative, and we work with our purpose in mind, so if you’re also all of these things, you’ll fit right in!
