$15 an hour / 30 hrs per week / 16 weeks, beginning June 2nd

Garden at Kimbourne is seeking a Garden Assistant to be a part of our mission to grow food and grow community in East Toronto using environmentally responsible permaculture methods.

Duties: In consultation with the garden committee, plans and implements weekly programming for volunteers; coordinates and promotes special events; liaises with community partners, monitors the garden daily; various garden tasks including planting, weeding, watering, harvesting; responsible for social media, and the Garden at Kimbourne blog.

Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 and meet eligibility criteria for the 2019 Canada Summer Jobs program. Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled in or have completed a post-secondary program with a focus on: horticulture, agriculture, botany, agrology, environmental studies, food studies, etc. Students in other fields who have gardening knowledge and experience and interest in community gardening may also be favourably considered.

Hours will be divided between at-home communications work and on-site hands-on work.
