2 Positions: Farmers Market Coordinator

The Leslieville Farmers’ Market operates every Sunday operating from 9am - 2pm from May through October and is one of Toronto’s busiest independent non-profit farmers’ markets. Dedicated to connecting urban residents with local farmers and food producers, the LFM is going into its 8th season in Jonathan Ashbridges Park.

We’re looking for a two Market Coordinators to help run our busy and vibrant Market this summer. If you’re a student passionate about local food, event planning and public space activation and are live and breath community building, then we’d love for you to join our team!

Please note this job opportunity is made available through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Applicants are preferably recent post-secondary graduates, under 30 and Canadian Citizens.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and tearing down the Market

  • Coordinating the markets vendors

  • Leading the LFM Volunteer Team

  • Assisting Market Programming (Community garden, special projects, community events)

  • Customer service and public relations

  • Work closely with Program Director and Market Manager.

  • Must be able to attend the Market every Sunday from 8am - 3pm throughout June, July and August

Ideal Candidate is:

  • Passionate about local food and sustainability

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Creative problem-solver

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Eager to learn

  • Enjoys physical work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Social media skills are an asset

  • Drivers license is an asset


  • Under 30 years old

  • Canadian citizen

  • Access to personal computer

  • Recent graduate (1 - 2 years)


  • 25 hours per week

  • 7- week contract with strong possibility of extension based on performance

  • Remote working with 1 - 2 days in LFM office

  • $17/hour

  • Contract to begin July 1, 2019
