JOB POSTING

Position: Warehouse Associate
Organization: Mama Earth Organics
Location: Toronto/East York, Ontario (near O'Connor & St. Clair Ave. E)

Warehouse Associate

We’re growing again and, as such, a position will be available shortly! Good luck!

We’re a progressive mission-driven organization and also one of the fastest growing companies in Canada. Our organization is still relatively small (around 95 employees) and you’ll be joining the team at an exciting time as we enter our next level of growth over the next 3-5 years.

Our mission is to build a fully sustainable local food system, by delivering health and happiness to our members, our farmers, our team and the planet. The right person will be passionate about this mission (and also know how to work hard and have fun).

Duties & Responsibilities: The position is perfect for an organized and energetic person who enjoys a physically active lifestyle. Among other things, the position includes helping to distribute produce across our growing warehouse. You’ll put cases of product away in our fridges, move product from the fridges onto shelves in our warehouse, and also move product back into the fridges. It’s one happy (and healthy) cycle!

You’ll also be asked to assess quality of produce, to help with general organization and cleanliness in the warehouse, and to do pick-ups from some of our amazing suppliers.

The perfect candidate will be:

  • Passionate about our mission to build a better local food community

  • Able to work at a consistently fast pace without oversight

  • Be physically fit and enjoy being active including the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lb boxes

  • Able to meet tight deadlines and stay on schedule

  • Positive, pro-active and able to face a challenge with a smile

  • Reliable and punctual always

  • Detail-oriented

  • Self-directed: Able to work at a high standard with minimal supervision (and within time limits)

  • Solutions-oriented

  • Interested/knowledgeable about food and cooking (especially produce)

  • Have a valid driver’s licence (regular licence) and an excellent driving record; plus be comfortable driving a panel van if needed from time-to-time

Compensation: Our starting rate is $17.00 per hour (+ discount on organic produce) + partial benefits after 3 months and the opportunity to work with nice people and help build a nice organization that you can believe in.

Hours:This position’s hours are flexible in that we are looking for either a full-time person or multiple part-time people. We would need you to be available for at least 3 shifts during the following time periods:

Mon - Friday: 6:30 am - 2:30 pm

Please note we always strive to have an 8 hour day, and this is usually achievable. However, there are some days when you may have to work longer than 8 hours.

How to Apply:

Please forward your resume with cover letter describing why you would be a good fit, the reason that you stopped working at your last position and your favorite band to:

Please don’t call or drop by our office as it’s a busy and spiritual place that must not be disturbed. Best of luck!
