Do you love being outdoors?
Do you want to learn about local food?
Want to meet a great bunch of people and be part of a wonderful community initiative?
Then the Withrow Park Farmers' Market is the place for you!
Who we are:
The Withrow Park Farmers' Market has been a SATURDAY morning outdoor community hub for 13 summers! It is a place where Ontario farmers and local entrepreneurs share sustainable food with Toronto's eaters. To learn more visit us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
We are looking for committed and responsible volunteers to complete multiple Art projects for our Farmers Market!
Help beautify Withrow Park Farmers' Market with your stunning Art Skills!
This may include using upcycled materials to create signage, sewing bunting, drawing chalkboard signs and much more! If you have amazing artistic abilities with Painting, Sewing, or Drawing, that you would like to share, please reach out!
All Art Volunteers will have the ability to express their love for the arts and apply their skills while helping the market obtain great works of reusable signage to be used at our weekly Markets for the season!
June 8th to July 27th, 2019
Come to a Saturday market to get a sense of how the signage and decorations will be used. Volunteers can then complete the projects from home or during the market on Saturdays.
The ideal volunteer will commit to completing arts and crafts projects for the Market within a one to two-week timeframe. Opportunities to create banners, signage, permanent chalkboard signs, and other creative postings will be emailed to volunteers. If you’re interested and willing to take on this role please get in touch and let us know your abilities as well as what projects you would like to work on: chalkboard art, sewing, signage, and banners.
Work from Home or between 7 am to 1 pm on Saturdays during the farmers’ market. You may choose to use our supplies to complete projects at the Market or use your own supplies at home and return the completed projects to the Market.
Check designated Withrow Art Projects document to review and select the art project(s) you would like to complete.
Submit a draft copy of your proposed signage/design.
If working from home - track the volunteer time to complete each project and report to Volunteer Coordinator once the piece(s) is completed and ready to drop off to the Market.
If working at Market - Keep supplies neat and tidy while working efficiently on an art project(s) in outdoor Park space. Ensure that dirty paint brushes, pans, and other used supplies are cleaned and stored at the end of the volunteer shift.
In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, come up with inventive ideas and ways to post signage on tents, tables, and around Market area.
Work with the Market’s Operations Committee as required.
Must be able to complete all art projects within 1 to 2 weeks and available to volunteer time accordingly.
Comfortable handling upcycled materials such as fabric, wood pieces, and yard signs.
Good communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Experience or interest in local food, farmers' markets, and other related environmental issues.
Proficient in the use of Google Drive, the Internet, and social media.
Community outreach and marketing experience are assets.
Ability to work well in a team with people from different backgrounds and with diverse personalities
Compensation as an Arts Volunteer:
Benefits of volunteering at the Withrow Park Farmers’ Market include learning or further developing a skill and giving back to the community in a meaningful way, reference letters for those that have committed to 2 or more markets, a free mug of coffee at each market, & exposure as an artist on our socials media.
