Urban Seedling Internship 2017

Urban Seedling is a family-owned and operated business. We believe that eating local starts in our own back yards (and balconies). We promote healthy eating and sustainable communities through education and the building of organic vegetable gardens as well as edible landscaping in homes, schools, daycares and workplaces. We have the first (on island!) greenhouse and garden centre completely dedicated to edibles.

Urban Seedling is proud to offer, for our 2017 season, an in depth internship in urban agriculture, horticulture and landscaping to recent graduates in the horticulture/landscaping floristry fields. Interns will haver an opportunity to get their hands dirty while applying what they have learned in a dynamic environment. Our internships allow students to gain valuable work experience and a chance to get their foot in the door in the blooming industry of urban agriculture. The Internships are open to students in Horticulture, Landscaping and Agriculture as well as students in Environmental studies* and Geography*.

Our Internships are available in the following departments: Plant Production/Greenhouse, Vegetable Garden Installation/Maintenance, Horticulture and Landscaping.

Our our internships are divided into two week blocks that begin mid-March and continue until the end of June as well as the month of August. Interns must be ready to commit to a complete 2 week block (Monday-Friday), as required by their respective programmes. Interns are welcome to sign up for more than one block period. Interns will work under their respective supervisor(s).

*Please note that Internships in Landscaping, Horticulture and Garden Installation are only open to Students in The Horticulture, Landscaping, Florists departments

The application deadline for the period of March 15th to April 28th is March 3rd.
The application deadline for the period of May 1st to June 30th is April 14th
The application deadline for the period of July 31st to September 15th is July 14th

Please include a recent CV (by email as well as a physical copy for our records) and a letter of motivation detailing your interest and experience (where applicable) in urban agriculture. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Programme de stage Semis Urbains

Semis Urbains est une entreprise familiale d’amenagement potager. Nous croyons qu’une communaute durable, en sante, commence avec une alimentation saine et surtout locale. Il n’y a rien de plus locale que votre propre cour ou balcon! Nous offrons un service d’installation d’amenagement potager dans le milieu scolaire corporatif et residentiel ainsi qu’un service complet d’amenagement paysager et d’horticulture. Nous tenons le premier centre de jardin avec une serre specialisee en culture de plantes comestibles.

Semis Urbains est fier d’offrir, pour la saison 2017, un programme de stage en agriculture urbaine, amenagement paysage et horticulture. Le stage est ouvert au nouvaux diplomes et diplomees en horticulture, amenagement paysager et fleuristerie ainsi que les etudiants et etudiantes en Science de l’Environement* et Geographie*

Vous cherchez a mettre en pratique ce que vous avez appris lors de vos etudes? Venez-vous salir les mains! Nos stages permettent aux etudiants et etudiantes d’acquerir de l’experience dans un domaine dynamique et vous offre une porte d’entree au sein de notre equipe. Nous offrons des stages dans les departements suivants: productions en serre, installation et entretien de potagers, entretien paysager et horticulture.

*Veuillez notez que les etudiants en sciences de l’environement et geographie ne sont pas admissibles dans les stages d’amenagement paysager, installation de potager ou horticulture, seulement dans le stage de production de serre.

Nos stages sont divises en blocs de deux semaines. Les stages debutent le mi-mars et se terminent le fin de juin ainsi que le mois d’aout. Les etudiants doivent s’engager a completes un bloc complet de deux semaines (du lundi au vendredi), selon les exigences de leurs programmes. Nous vous invitons a vous inscrire a plus d’un bloc de temps. Les stagiaires travailleront sous la supervision de leurs chefs d’equipe respectives.

-La date limite des demandes d’admission du 15 mars au 28 avril est le 3 mars
-La date limite des demandes d’admission du 1er mai au 30 juin est le 14 avril
-La date limite des demandes d’admission du 31 juillet au 15 septembre est le 14 juillet
