Position: Nutrition Intern
Type: initially voluntary or stipend, salary contingent on the award of the grant (see below)

We are a family-owned food producer, processor, and accomodation provider looking to develop healing programs through nutrition and various other resources. We believe in offering our clients a full range of services to achieve optimum health.

Nutrition Interns will work in areas from creation of sustainable agriculture under an innovative, community-focused scope of operation to holistic menu development for clients and hospital patients.

One of the areas we are looking to focus on is to conduct food-related, nutrition & dietary research. Our goal is to work collaboratively with other health-care professionals, nutrition experts, university collaborators, and agriculture professionals in order to achieve a high level of potential for developing an effective research model. The grant application work & research planning will initially be voluntary or with a stipend, and the salary will be contingent on the award of the grant.

Knowledge and experience will be gained in areas such as recipe development, vendor management, inventory control, holistic food preparation and techniques. The candidate will also learn to ensure food quality, sanitation and proper food handling compliance.


  • Assist with menu development
  • Manage procurement and product inventory: includes food production, sourcing, receiving, storing, and distribution,
  • Conduct appropriately field nutrition-related surveys
  • Development of cooking demos and food sampling events
  • Develop educational materials and team talks for clients and hospital patients
  • Assist in micronutrient testing protocols
  • Examine and translate scientific research related to nutrition, athletic performance and dietary supplements
  • Perform various administrative duties
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by staff
  • Gather resources for neighborhood based farmers’ markets and food providers;
  • Help implement training related to supermarkets, farmer’s markets, food labels, and food preparation;
  • Help maintain professionalism and cleanliness of work areas.


  • A strong passion for, and knowledge of, food and nutrition issues
  • Must be customer services oriented and able to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree or course work in food and nutrition dietetics or public health related field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with community organizing and engagement, particularly with local communities and related to food justice or health, an asset
  • Strong leadership, communication, writing, presentation, facilitation and organizational skills required
  • A flexible schedule and ability travel an asset
