Position: Outdoor Adventure Nature Nanny & Farm Helper
Type: volunteer/work-trade in exchange for accom+meals (see below)
Organization: Moon Gravity Farm
Location: Rossland, BC (West Kootenays / Monashee Mountains)
We live on a small permaculture farm on the edge of town in Rossland, BC. With Spring upon us and lots to do on the farm, we’re looking for help with our two adventurous kids (5 & 2) and with some farm work like feeding the animals, collecting eggs, tending seedlings, & other general spring start-up projects.
Our usual trade is 4 hours of work a day in exchange for a place to stay and three meals. We find this arrangement leaves folks lots of time to explore the area or pursue other projects.
We’re looking for volunteers who are good with kids, energetic, and love the outdoors. Our kids spend a ton of time exploring and working on projects outside and we'd love to have some new faces around the farm who find wonder in the natural world and are keen to join in their fun...
Accommodation varies from season to season, most people camp (we have spare gear if you need it) but we also have a small cabin that is sometimes available.
We eat a wide range of healthy meals made from scratch, mostly organic, and fresh from the farm when we have it. We’re happy to accommodate a variety of diets.
Our farm is a 10-15 minute walk uphill to town. In the summer, Rossland is a great spot for mountain biking & hiking. It's beautiful. We’re on the side of a mountain, so everything around here involves walking uphill or down!
The farm includes a big garden, goats, sheep, chickens, & ducks. We recently moved to a new property and have spent the last few seasons doing earthworks, building farm infrastructure, & planting trees & shrubs. We will continue this work this spring….
The ideal volunteer must be responsible, hardworking, respectful, and friendly and would be able to come for two to three weeks or longer…
If you’re interested please tell us a little bit about yourself and your plans for the spring/summer:
