Farm: Ferme Réservoir
Location: Low, Quebec

Ferme Réservoir is now headed into our 7th season of certified-organic mixed vegetable production in Low, QC (45 minutes north of Ottawa). Our vegetables are sold through 2 farmer’s market and a collective Winter CSA.

We are seeking one part-time market gardener to join us from May to mid September.

Working alongside one of the owners, the ideal candidate is looking to work hard, expand their knowledge of organic food production to produce high quality, organic food in a timely and efficient manner.

Here are some of the main tasks and responsibilities:

• Transplanting seedlings into the fields
• Tending to plants (weeding, irrigating, covering with protective covers, etc.)
• Harvesting for markets and CSA
• Cleaning and packing vegetables
• Participating in a variety of other related tasks, such as packing the delivery van, cleaning work surfaces, installing caterpillar tunnels, etc.
• Possibility of tending the market stall - if bilingual

Qualities we are looking for in a candidate:

• Performs tasks to the best of their ability
• Attentive to detail and the task at hand
• Has a positive attitude and is willing to work in physically-demanding conditions
• Can work in a team and can take on tasks alone

Requirements:

• Someone who can work in varying weather, temperature conditions
• Someone who can lift 40lbs of vegetables
• Experience on a similar farm is an asset. Experience in food service, landscaping, or small businesses is also considered an asset.

Conditions:

• 21 hours per week. 7:00am-2:30pm.
  • Must be available Wednesdays, otherwise we are flexible about which 2 other days of week are workdays.
• Approximately May 13 - September 16
• Salary of $17.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
• Free vegetables throughout the season
