NONPROFIT BOARD POSITIONS

2024 Board Member Posting

Role: Board Member
Type: nonprofit board of directors positions / unpaid
Organization: Vancouver Fruit Tree Project Society
Location: Vancouver, BC

The VFTP is a volunteer run, community based, registered charity that has been tackling local food waste and food insecurity in Vancouver since 1999. Our mission is to celebrate the bounty of the urban orchard, aid inclusive food networks and cultivate community. Our volunteers harvest surplus backyard fruit for redistribution to those experiencing barriers to accessing fresh produce. In the past 23 years we’ve rescued over 100,000 pounds of fruit, and redistributed them to different organizations that offer food programming including community centres, food hubs, daycares, senior homes, shelters and more. We are seeking individuals to join our board of directors. Our board is a group of passionate Metro Vancouverites dedicated to local food security and community-building. The positions are for a two-year term of office. As we are a registered grassroots charity and operate on a modest annual budget, we rely on our committed, enthusiastic board and volunteers to keep the project running.

We are looking for individuals with an interest and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Fundraising
  • Event Planning
  • Community Partner Development
