Positions: Board/ Committee/ Working Group Members (volunteers)

Are you someone who enjoys working with others? Are you inspired by the idea of building community? What does it mean to you? 

The Stone Soup Network is seeking volunteers to devote 3 to 6 hours a month to the Stone Soup Network and its various projects. All meetings are being held virtually, via zoom, due to the COVID pandemic. 

Who are we looking for?

  • Treasurer — organize financial reports, ensure finances are accurate and accountable 
  • Secretary — organize meetings, record minutes of the meeting, and share actions/decisions with teams
  • Communications /Marketing — develop communication strategies (outreach) that leverages social media channels and opportunities to promote SSN 
  • Fundraisers — develop ideas for events, identify funding opportunities, apply for grants

What is the Stone Soup Network?

Stone Soup Network forms strategic partnerships, within a neighbourhood, to build relationships of trust, find local solutions to inequity and sustainability, and provide those who experience exclusion (women, economically disadvantaged, homeless, socially isolated elderly, newcomers, disadvantaged youth, and others) the additional resources they need to belong. 

In the past year Stone Soup Network provided more than 1000 gifts of much needed products and services to economically challenged families and individuals, thanks to the local businesses who donated items such as pharmacy gift cards for isolated seniors, and new books for homebound, eager young readers. We work with an amazing team of people (social workers, health providers, religious leaders etc.) who help make the connection between the donations and the people who need them most.

The Stone Soup Network garners support from local businesses who operate in their local communities. It’s easy for them to bring their products to their consumers because their consumers are nearby. By cutting down on these miles, people are reducing the environmental impact of transportation.
