REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Opportunity: Regenerative Farming Internships
Type: Regenerative farming education with enrollment fee

Organization: Hayes Farm
Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick
Housing: Interns will need to find their own accommodations. The farm is located in a residential area, and nearby living arrangements are typically available with some research.

Reconnect with the land and community to find your purpose. This is no ordinary program. If you’re looking to see how food justice, food security, and climate issues play out in the real world, this program is for you. Put your knowledge to work in the fields of Hayes Farm - a working farm in the heart of Fredericton, NB.

Our Regenerative Farming Internships are holistic community-led farm programs that provide the skills, expertise, and support to practice human-scale agriculture. By demonstrating this model of seasonal food production, we address local food security, financial responsibility, and personal and spiritual fulfillment.

This year we are offering 2 full-time, formal learn-to-farm programs:

(1) Regenerative Farming SUMMER Internship (RFSI)

Hands-on learning, which is 70% of the program, is designed so every intern gets experience in all aspects of our small farm. In addition to the time spent in annual crop production areas, interns will also rotate through many other areas of focus to round out their learning. These include but are not limited to greenhouse management, water management, permaculture techniques, office administration, and Indigneous plantings and seed saving, to name a few.

Lectures and discussion make up the remaining 30% of the program. Most of these sessions are taught online by our Farm Manager, while others are taught on-farm by our Indigenous Knowledge Specialist and a great selection of guest speakers. Subjects are divided into 3 main themes; Regenerative Crop Production, Beyond the Farm, and The Economy of Farming. This summer program is an excellent option for university students, or those looking to dip their toes into farming!
