Wanted: Sustainable and respectful woodlot advice
Location: Ottawa-Gatineau region (rural), Quebec

I am working with a landowner-friend to help them find a vocation for about 200 acres of woodlot near Gatineau, Quebec. Ideally, they would like to find a way to generate some income in a way that is sustainable and respectful to the land. I would be seeking someone with some experience in this field to help advise on what may be possible and how to proceed with respect to a few options. Some thoughts include wild mushroom harvesting, carbon offsets and potentially opening it up to a few organized groups for hikes and events. There are some trails on the property and others could be developed. I feel there is potential to find ways to help generate some funds to help offset taxes and provide a little bit of revenue, but I am not familiar enough with this myself to advise in any definite way.

If you are interested in learning more or potentially visiting the area, with proper covid-19 protections in place, that can be organized.

In terms of compensation, we have a budget of a few hundred dollars to help offset time and travel, we would not be looking for a detailed report or document, the advice could be provided in a meeting. We would like to engage someone who could provide tangible examples and opportunities and/or potential contacts.
