Do you want to learn more about growing your own food in the city? Want to get involved in the community, help the environment, and earn volunteer hours?
Register for Urban Roots Youth: A free urban agriculture program for youth ages 14-18 in downtown Toronto.
Participants will learn about urban food production, native plant identification and use, principles of food justice, and addressing climate change. Program activities will include planting fall crops, harvesting herbs and vegetables, cooking unique recipes, making herbal remedies, and more.
The program runs Wednesdays from 4-5:30 starting September 21 until November 23rd. Programs will take place at Winchester and Sprucecourt School Gardens. For inclement weather or culinary programming, our indoor location is 585 Dundas St E, 3rd floor.
Attending each session is not mandatory - participants are welcome to participate however works for them. Volunteer hours will be provided!
