La Fermette is a organic farm located in Hemmingford. Since 2018, we produce more than fifty varieties of vegetables, sold directly either to restaurants / grocery stores, on the farm or in our markets. We are looking for new members to join our team of 6, for the 2023 season!

We work on a small surface, in a non-mechanized way, and with different techniques aimed at protecting the health of the soil. We also have greenhouse crops which occupy about a third of our time. The people we are looking for will be involved in all stages of field production, from sowing to harvesting and marketing. The scale of our farm allows you to touch a bit of everything, it is certainly a great experience for people who want to start their own project.

The assistant market gardener will participate with the team in the following activities:

  • Soil preparation, sowing and transplanting
  • Maintenance of crops in the greenhouse (staking, suckering, etc.) and in the field (weeding, fertilization, etc.)
  • Harvest and packaging

  • Be motivated to learn and live an experience on a bio-intensive (without tractor) and diversified market gardening farm
  • Have the desire to work physically and intensely
  • Be ready to work outdoors in all kinds of conditions (wind, cold, hot, rain, insects, etc.)
  • Enjoy teamwork and a job well done
  • Like (a lot) vegetables

Hourly rate: from $15/h (or more depending on experience)

Number of hours / week: an average of 40h / week variable depending on the time and intensity of the season

5 days a week, which may include weekend days
