Position: 2021 Spring/Summer/Fall Season Algonquin Park Wilderness Chef

Type: seasonal contracts available from early May to mid-October 2021, opportunity to renew for the winter season
Accommodation: Shared Lakeside simple cabin accommodation

Voyageur Quest is a wilderness tour company that specializes in Algonquin Park. Our facilities — the Algonquin Log Cabin, the Algonquin Cottage Outpost, Algonquin Island Retreat and Voyageur Outfitter are all located at Algonquin Park’s northwest corner. Our Covid Response follows Public Health guidelines and directions and includes but is not limited to masking, plexiglass and heightened sanitation. Though some of the large group arms of our business have been impacted by the covid pandemic, we feel extremely fortunate in anticipating another busy season on the private guided Log Cabin, canoe trip and cottage adventure front. Our commitment in shaping our 2021 season will continue to be to provide private and small groups a safe place to connect with each other, fresh air, and adventure – all at the edge of Algonquin’s wilderness.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event and we appreciate the healthcare workers, local communities, and governments around the world who are on the front line working to contain this coronavirus – offering us all hope.

Algonquin Wilderness Chef
The Voyageur Quest Algonquin Wilderness Chef predominantly supports the needs of the Algonquin Log Cabin (serving groups of 4 to 18), the Broken Paddle Patio and Special Events.

The VQ Algonquin Wilderness Chef responsibilities include:
inventory, ordering, planning, shopping, preparing healthy and tasty meals in an open "off the grid" kitchen ensuring food safety practices.

Applicants should have:

• excellent organizational and timing skills
• ability to work in a small team
• a background/understanding of food and safe food practices
• ability to follow menus and fill orders
• strong cooking and baking skills
• a special appreciation for Algonquin Park and our wilderness "off the grid" environment
• a love of connecting with people.

Contract from: Early May to Mid-October 2021 *Opportunity to renew for the winter season
Compensation: $17-$22/hour* commensurate with experience. *customers tip directly to staff
Training dates: tbd typically early May

Other:

• Must have email and telephone to communicate with office.
• Drivers license and Car an asset to get to and from work and days off
