Trout Lily produces a wide range of certified organic vegetable, herb and flower seedlings for sale to home gardeners. Check us out on Instagram to see our lovely rural location, farm dog Rosa, lush greenhouses and the swimming pond. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about organic seedlings production in a real business setting! If you're an aspiring market gardener, farmer, or an ambitious home grower wanting to build your skills in starting plants from seed - this is a great opportunity to learn from a business with developed systems and practices. This short-term job position offers a lot of learning, a chance to work in the sunshine, and to then move onto other adventures for the summertime season.
Trout Lily is currently looking for an individual to fill the positions of greenhouse assistant. The greenhouse assistants work mainly for the critical production time from mid-late April to the end of May. You'll see the duties and skills (training and support provided) listed below, after some more info on scheduling. You can expect to work with a competent greenhouse team (small staff) and to have paid 30min lunch breaks, as well as the benefit of an on-site pond for swimming and a pup for playing.
The greenhouse assistants can expect weekends off in April, and 3-5 days of work a week. During May, schedules are arranged to include support needed for busier weekends at Trout Lily. This scheduling is coordinated with staff to maintain the time-off structured in your position as well as to offer learning experiences team members want to gain from this work environment. As the season winds down toward end of May, all staff hours slow down accordingly.
