Do you have practical farm skills and experience with farm infrastructure? Are you someone who can lead a crew and help youth gain new skills? We are looking for an energetic leader to help keep things running smoothly on our training farm this summer. You’re interested in northern food security and working with a range of diverse people, and ready for a northern adventure… let’s talk!
Sundog Veggies is a training farm located on the traditional territories of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. We’re in our second year of production after a quick pivot from two decades as a successful northern tourism resort (#1 on TripAdvisor for 12 years). We are working together with youth and permaculture mentors to strengthen northern food security. Our goal is to help our trainees gain knowledge about farming with hands-on training.
In 2020 we had a great first harvest that we sold in local markets and donated to the Whitehorse Food Bank, our volunteers, and local Elders. We’re excited to start another amazing season working together with a community of young farmers in the Yukon.
Position will work approximately 8 hours per day with experiential tasks and training on the farm. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Location is Lot 1160 Policeman’s Point Rd approx 25 min drive north of Whitehorse, Yukon. On-site housing may be available if required.
