Position: Digital Events Coordinator
Organization: FarmFolk CityFolk
Location: virtual/ work from home, anywhere in BC, see below for details
Eligibility: age 30 & under; unemployed, under-employed or student/recent graduate
FarmFolk CityFolk (FFCF) is a not-for-profit society connecting, empowering, and inspiring people to strengthen BC’s sustainable food systems. We develop, operate, and act as a catalyst for projects that support access to and production of local, sustainable food; support local growers and producers; provide access to and protection of farmland; and connect, educate, and celebrate with communities across BC. For over 25 years FFCF has been a leader in local food and sustainable agriculture working with business, policy makers, NGO partners, government, universities, and the public to achieve our mandate.
We are seeking a digital event design and planning whiz to join our team. Due to COVID-19, we are not able to run our signature and longstanding Feast of Fields engagement event. This is BC’s longest running local food celebration event, and leaves a big gap in the way we connect with our community.
Reporting to the Engagement Manager, the Digital Events Coordinator will research and design an online engagement event to celebrate local food, chefs, and farmers across BC. We will aim to engage 3000+ people in Metro Vancouver, the Okanagan, and on Vancouver Island.
This role would create an event template and marketing plan to support virtual gatherings that educate consumers about the environmental and social impact of their food choices and connect consumers to local food. We are wanting to become creative in the types of events we host and want to explore options that allow for safe physical distancing and/or engaging virtual experiences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating web and social media content to support the promotion of environmentally friendly food and farming businesses. Marketing may include the use of a drone to capture engaging footage for video.
We are seeking a creative, out of the box thinker, who loves organization and details, is self-motivated and able to work from their home office.
Application deadline: the role will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is identified. Quick applications are encouraged.
Start date: November 30
This is a temporary employment role confirmed until March 31, 2021, with a very strong possibility of extension to coordinate the implementation of the event. It is 37.5 hours per week at $21.98/ hour + 4% in lieu of paid vacation time. Flexible schedule possible.
This is a work from home position, and the successful candidate will need a reliable, fast internet connection and personal computer (if this is a barrier, please reach out). $50/ month allowance provided. All necessary software will be provided.
This role is funded by ECO Canada’s Digital Skills for Youth program and the successful candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee in Canada, as well as being unemployed, underemployed, or have part time employment. Please clearly indicate your eligibility for this fund by completing their short online application here and forwarding the results along with your application.
If you are really excited about this role but aren’t eligible for the ECO funding, please reach out.
FFCF staff and board are committed to an anti-oppression learning journey, and committed to integrating justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into our work and workplace culture. We humbly acknowledge that we have a long way to go. We encourage BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, individuals from other diverse communities to apply, as well as applicants from all over BC.
In order to apply, email Julia Zado, Engagement Manager at email@example.com
We thank all applicants for their interest but only those receiving an interview will be contacted.
