Housing: We don't have accommodation on the farm, so are seeking someone local or in a position move locally.

(1) Role: Harvest Coordinator

Job Type: Permanent, seasonal (February-December) 24 hrs per week.

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Compensation: Hourly wage commensurate with experience, plus a productivity-based season-completion bonus after the first full season.

About the Role

Button Brook Farm is seeking a reliable, organized, and hands-on Harvest Coordinator to support our harvest, packing, and production. This position will play a key role in communicating with customers, managing orders, and supervising harvesting, washing, and packing salad greens while maintaining high standards of food safety and product quality. This is a hands-on leadership role in which the Harvest Coordinator oversees and trains junior staff while working alongside them in the same tasks. The Harvest Coordinator will also assist as needed with any aspect of crop production such as planting and weed control. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in producing high-quality food, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and carry out the harvest and packing of salad greens and other crops according to crop maturity, and customer demand.
• Wash, sort, grade, and pack salad greens and other produce while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
• Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures throughout harvesting and packing.
• Monitor produce quality and identify damaged, diseased, over-mature, or otherwise unsuitable crops.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Safely operate and maintain packhouse equipment.
• Maintain records related to harvest and packing, cleaning, and other food safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively with other farm staff and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace.
• Assist with transplanting, seeding, watering, weeding, and other crop and farm care activities as needed.

Essential Qualifications

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, lifting, carrying, and working outdoors for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, high-quality food.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and task procedures consistently.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Comfortable training and directing others in the relevant areas.

Desired Experience

• Interest in local food security and knowledge of organic or sustainable growing practices.
• Experience working on a farm, market garden, greenhouse, nursery, or similar fast-paced production environment.
• Previous experience harvesting, washing, packing, or handling fresh produce.
• Experience following food safety or produce-handling protocols.
• Experience working with hand tools and basic farm equipment.
• Experience training, supervising, or coordinating other seasonal farm workers.

Desired Qualifications

• Food Handler or other relevant food-safety certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Valid driver's licence and/or experience operating farm vehicles or equipment.

(2) Role: Grower

Compensation: Hourly wage commensurate with experience, plus a productivity based season-completion bonus after the first full season.

About the Role

Button Brook Farm is seeking a reliable, organized, and engaged Grower to support our bed preparation, planting and crop management. This is a hands-on leadership role in which the Grower occasionally oversees and trains junior staff while working alongside them in the same tasks, as well as works independently in the field. The Grower will also assist as needed with harvest and packing. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in producing high-quality food, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and carry out bed preparation and soil amendment, direct seeding, tray seeding and transplanting according to a crop plan, irrigation, and weed control.
• Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
• Monitor crop grow and quality, and identify nutrient deficiency, and/or pest or disease presence.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Safely operate and maintain equipment.
• Maintain records related to field and crop management.
• Work collaboratively with other farm staff and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace.
• Assist with harvest and post-harvest handling as needed.

(3) Role: Delivery Driver

Position Type: Part-Time (5 hrs/wk)

Schedule: Currently Wednesdays 6:30-11:30am, with occasional fill-in on other routes.

Location: Button Brook Farm, Bridgetown, NS

Wage: $19/hr

About the Position

We are looking for a reliable and responsible Part-Time Delivery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be an early-riser and a friendly face, responsible for delivering products safely and efficiently while providing warm and professional service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load, transport, and deliver products to customers.
• Complete deliveries accurately and on schedule.
• Verify orders and delivery information before departure.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service.
• Maintain delivery records.
• Keep the delivery vehicle clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Follow all applicable traffic, safety, and company policies.
• Report any delivery issues, vehicle concerns, or customer feedback to management.
• Assist with supply pick-up as required.

Essential Qualifications

• Valid Nova Scotia driver's licence (Class 5).
• Over 25 years old, with a clean and acceptable driving record.
• Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
• Strong reliability, punctuality, and work ethic.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move packages as required.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Desirable Experience

• Previous delivery or courier experience.
• Interest in local food security and knowledge of organic or sustainable growing practices.
• Experience working on a farm, market garden, greenhouse, nursery, or similar fast-paced production environment.
• Experience in customer service or a similar public-facing role.
