Hiring: Field Crew
Farm: Natural Collective Farm
Location: Niverville, near Winnipeg, Manitoba

About us:

Natural Collective is situated just 30 minutes South of Winnipeg, MB on Treaty 1 Territory. We are a small farm with 3 acres of diversified and ecologically grown vegetables, fruit and herbs. We are a CSA farm, a Market Garden and Wholesaler. We are a collective of three, first generation farmers: Ari, Adam & Nick. Together we work to provide good, nourishing, flavorful food to our community while tending to the health of our soil and expanding the biodiversity on our land. We use practices such as cover cropping, crop rotation, low-tillage, and animal rotation in order to achieve these goals, and we do not use toxic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.

Desired Qualities:

• A positive attitude and motivated to learn and improve
• Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
• Physically fit (able to work standing, kneeling, bending, & some heavy lifting)
• Willingness to work in variable weather conditions (sun, rain, heat)
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Efficient, reliable, consistent, and punctual
• Some experience with or knowledge of plants (vegetables) preferred but not necessary

Farm Duties:

• Transplanting
• Bed prep
• Weeding
• Row covering crops
• Harvesting
• Irrigating
• Processing produce (cleaning, packing, bagging, etc.)
• Potential additional tasks (if needed): restaurant deliveries, farmers market, animal care/processing

Hours:

Looking for someone to start mid May and work until October, weather dependent. You will be expected to work Monday-Friday, generally for 8 hours a day. We usually do 8am-4pm but on hotter days we do 7am-3pm. Occasional Saturday market shifts may be available throughout the season.

Wage:

We offer a starting wage of $14.50/hour to our new Field Crew members with opportunities for increase. You will also go home with tons of fresh produce & eggs throughout the season + discount rates on chickens in fall.
