Working with our programming team, our Food Specialist is responsible for everything food related at the centre, including: setting or adapting our menus for our camps, artist residencies, and public events, working with our garden team to ensure we are using food fresh from our garden, developing special food programs including community outreach and teas, developing new and nurturing existing relationships with local farmers and food suppliers, and other organizations, and managing our community meal program.
Managing a budget, the food specialist works to make wonderful food and nurture our community, both at Ross Creek and beyond with an environmental approach to food. Working with staff, the food specialist will help us continue to reduce food waste and works with our youth leaders and volunteers in the kitchen to encourage a great love for cooking! It's an integral position in our team, and we are looking for someone who really loves being part of and leading a community and who is excited about the diversity of audiences for their food!
Please note - while we are looking for a year-round person, we are open to local seasonal approach for this summer, (including a student with extensive kitchen experience), while also reviewing applications for a permanent employee to begin later if necessary.
Please email a letter of interest, whether you are looking for summer or permanent work, your food experience, including interest in food security, and what you would bring to our team, 2 references, and CV to Ms. Chris O’Neill, Executive Director, email@example.com
