Position: Crew member

Aylmer, near St. Thomas & London, Ontario
Transportation: own transportation required

Looking for a job that offers more than just a paycheck? If you are interested in learning about small scale organic farming and seeing your labour come to fruition over the season, you may be the candidate we are looking for. Our Fields is a small family operated organic vegetable farm growing quality produce for local markets in St.Thomas and London, and we are looking for a crew member to aid in all aspects of our farm.

Responsibilities would include:

  1. Planting, weeding and harvesting produce alongside other team members.
  2. Washing, packing and itemizing inventory for market.
  3. Attending weekly Saturday market with another team member. This would include setup and takedown, speaking to customers, selling products, etc.
  4. Opportunities to learn canning and preserving techniques and to participate in apiary tasks.

Training and mentoring will be provided for all tasks that employees are asked to complete.

Candidates must be able to work well both in a team and independently, and must be willing and able to perform manual labour tasks outdoors in all weather.

This job is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program, so candidates must be under 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period and eligible to work in Canada.

  • Employment would begin May 18 and continue through the end of August.
  • 33 hours per week; Wed-Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 5am-2pm.
  • Weekday hours are potentially flexible and some accommodation could be made, at the discretion of the employer.
