Position: Communications Coordinator / Box packer
Employer: Farmhouse Food
Location: 2 days/week in Ottawa, 2 days/week from home

Farmhouse Food is a co-operative of small farms formed in 2019, working together to bring more local and sustainable food to the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

We bring together fresh food from twenty farms across Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec and assemble it into Harvest Boxes, which are delivered to homes and pick-up points across Ottawa-Gatineau each week from June to December.

We are looking for a Communications Coordinator / Box Packer (one position) to join our team four days a week (Monday - Thursday). Our staff team is small but mighty: we all pack Harvest Boxes two days a week, and work on our own specialized tasks the other two days. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are worked at our warehouse space in the east end of Ottawa, while Mondays and Thursdays are worked from home/remotely. All COVID-19 protocols are followed at the warehouse space, but the job does require working in close proximity with others in an indoor space.

Communications duties (working remotely) will include:

• creating and posting content on social media
• preparing/updating content for our newsletters and website
• responding to customer inquiries
• marketing initiatives like contests, referral programs, customer surveys etc.
• photographing products, farms, farmers and the box packing process
• creating graphics and other visual resources that can be used across platforms

Box packing duties will include:

• receiving and storing deliveries from farms
• packing and organizing Harvest Boxes for delivery
• reviewing order/delivery lists and liaising with farmers/drivers
• loading/unloading delivery trucks

• a strong writer and creative communicator
• bilingual in French/English is a strong asset
• reliable, detail-oriented, organized, good at working independently
• familiar with MailChimp, Facebook, Instagram, Shopify, and online advertising (or at least some of these)
• comfortable with full days of physical labour and heavy lifting - in a fridge!
• passionate about local food and sustainable agriculture.
