Position: Farm/Cidery Helper
Company: Windswept Cider
Location: near Thornbury/Meaford, Ontario (near Collingwood, Owen Sound)

Are you interested in value added farm production and learning about fermentation?

Windswept Cider is a small micro cidery and fermentory, based on our 100 acre organic family farm in Meaford, Ontario. We’re currently looking for part-time help on the farm and at our newly opened farm bottle shop.

The position is available through the Canada Summer jobs grant at $14/hour, 20-30 hours per week for a maximum of 16 weeks.

Potential responsibilities would include:

  • Retail sales of cider and jun kombucha at farmer’s markets and on farm bottle shop
  • Recording and reporting sales
  • Managing cash and inventory
  • Maintaining market set-up and signage
  • Communicating feedback and leads
  • Assisting with production
  • General facility and equipment cleaning
  • Packing and shipping online orders
  • General farm work including transplanting trees, garden maintenance, and pest/weed control
  • Assist with landscaping, property and infrastructure maintenance and development
  • Assist with apple and pear harvest in late September until end of October


  • Has Smart Serve Certification or is able to become certified (age req 18)
  • Possesses excellent communication skills and is honest and reliable
  • Is able to follow direction well and work efficiently and independently
  • Is energetic with a positive attitude, and customer service oriented
  • Has exceptionally high standards and will maintain a well stocked and tidy work space
  • Is detailed oriented, highly organized and is a committed self starter
  • Is capable of managing a highly physical position in varied working conditions
  • Is comfortable with outdoor manual labour and able to lift 50lbs

Our ideal candidate is passionate about local craft products and the farm to table experience, is knowledgeable about cider and kombucha and able to guide customers through a tasting experience (training will also be provided). This is not required, but would be helpful.

This position is ideal for a local high school graduate or college student with their own transportation who is interested in agriculture, entrepreneurship or starting their own business.
