Position: Organic Farm Program Assistant

Earthwise Society is a not for profit, charitable organization that has been a leader in community-based environmental education for over 30 years. The Society runs demonstration projects for sustainable land use in Tsawwassen and Agassiz BC. We have an exciting opportunity at our Delta location for an articulate and energetic individual who has a passion for small-scale organic farming and wants to make a personal contribution towards sustainability. Reporting to the Farm Program Coordinator, the Organic Farm Program Assistant will be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with field preparation, field maintenance, crop development, crop harvest, and post harvest handling
  • Assist with the supervision and training of volunteers
  • Assist with educational programs, tours, special events and fundraising activities
  • Keep farm and storage areas organized and tidy
  • Assist running a CSA program and farm store
  • Represent Earthwise at Farmers Markets and other community events


  • Be currently a full-time student who will be returning to college or university in the fall
  • Be enrolled in a program related to environmental studies, biology, horticulture, etc
  • Be self-motivated, flexible, willing to take initiative, work well independently and in a team environment
  • Be physically fit and enjoy working outside in all kinds of weather
  • Have a strong interest in gardening, nature, or farming
  • Proven ability in working effectively with volunteers and/or co-workers
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident (Service Canada requirement)

Note: This is a full-time position of 35-hours per week for 8 weeks with the possibility of extension. Wage is $15.20/Hour. Weekend work will be required
